Horde and SME 7
« on: February 03, 2006, 05:05:21 AM »
I have three questions ...

1) How close is SME7 to having a calendar/scheduling module for horde (if it's being considered)?
2) Is it time to upgrade to 7 from 6.5RC1?  If I do so now (with pre1), will I be able to upgrade to stable release version when it comes out?
3) Can Horde3 that comes with SME 7 be installed on 6.5RC1?

Thanks in advance!

1 - http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs//gswallow/wip/kronolith-h3-2.0.3-1sme01.noarch.rpm - but you have to configure it yourself for now, which isn't really that tricky - search the forums for 'kronolith-h3'.

2 - Up to you.  There are still bugs being worked out.  Update now if you have an interest in reporting the bugs you find to the developers to make the finished product better.  You will be able to get all the updates (to the final version) via the software update panel in SME7.

3 - You'd need php > 4.3, which is not part of SME6x.  The official answer is no.

Greg,

Thanks for the answers (and it looks like you were up about as late as I was).  I did find a link to J. Bennets script to install Horde3, and it worked like a charm!!!  It automatically did the php upgrade for me.  I find horde alot slower than v.2, but it's doing much more than before.

With regard to question 2, that's what I was hoping to hear.  The only add ons that I'm using  (that I need) are fetch and backup2ws.  I'll check the status with them for v. 7, but I think they're both operational now.  I do have v.7 installed on a testing machine (I reported a bug with my D Link NIC), but I was afraid to apply to my production server in case I wasn't able to smoothly upgrade to the stable release when it comes out.   I thought I'd read somewhere that the beta versions will not upgrade to the release version.  Knowing now that I can, I'll upgrade shortly.

Thanks,

Rob

Rob,
I keep trying to find all of the references to horde 3 running on 6.x.  There will be issues when upgrading to 7.0 if running my horde 3 script.  Mainly the templates.  On some of the modules, I just used 1 big template to get the initial config in place, then the hacked up server-manager panel.  The templates will clash.  I haven't worked out all of the issues, but I did try an upgrade on a test server a while back and it wasn't pretty.  When time permits, I plan on trying to piggy back off of what Greg has already done.
