Help: Cogeco residential Cable
« on: December 17, 2001, 06:38:08 PM »
Hi!  I am trying to determine if it is possible to run mydomain.ca on my home e-smith server v5.03 on the Cogeco residential cable system.

To test, I enabled a free dynamic dns domain.  When I have tried to view my e-smith server from outside my network, I can't see the  web page.  I also don't seem to be able to get mail received.  The messages time out as undeliverable.

I can however, telnet to the server from outside.

I looked at a port scan site and ran the scan of my e-smith.  It was highly complimentary since it said "All TCP and UDP filtered,  No response (open or closed) to an open request was received.  Your computer appears to be a hard target. Well done!"  Great ...

I suspect that Cogeco has blocked port 25 (mail) and 80 (http).

Are there any other users of Cogeco residential service that can run an e-smith server?  If yes, what did you do to make it work?

Thanks

tom haris
