I have a stardom USB/firewire external RAID 1 device (
http://www.synetic.net/Synetic-Products/SyneRAID-Units/SyneRAID-XFW-XSC.htm
)
I was wondering if it is (?will be) possible to install e-smith on it. My efforts to date on 7pre1 have not been succesful (viz. loading the USB hard drive module). This link,
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-fireboot.html?ca=dgr-lnxw09FireBoot
, suggests it might be a bit more complicated than I had hoped.

Attach it as a SATA drive ...
...all your problems should be taken care of.
No boot device trouble.
SME7.0 will run it as a single degraded array but you know its working RAID1 "below".
Regards
Reinhold
P.S.: iow Forget about USB boot for now
