Accepting mail without a date header

One of our clients is using an SME 7 box as an email server.  The box (quite correctly) refuses mail without a valid date field in the mail headers.  Unfortunately, they receive important automated messages which don't have a date field in the mail header.  As I can't fix the problem at source, is there any way I can disable this feature for now, to allow this mail in?

Workaround (vis custom template) is documented here:

Thanks Charlie.  As it wasn't a bug (with SME), I didn't think of looking there.
