Hi mldonkey is started by the normal boot procedure of the SME Server
or by typing service mldonkey start or stop...

Yuo use the correct sequence.
Is there something wrong in mldonkey log file? 
It's in mldonkey directory and it's called something like mldonkey.log
Try also to take a look in MLDonkey forum.

I found the failure. Since i replaced the mlnet file ist mldonkey 2.8.7 runing. This version replaces the 255.255.255.255 with 0.0.0.0/0 so it´s "not a bug it´s a feature" 

And in my special case (using a ipcop firewall with a DMZ where the SME Server is located in) you have to include the Lan (called green in the Ipcop world) where my client is located when i want to access the mldonkey http sites (http://server:4080) So i have to include it under  security - local networks...
(if you are using Wlan/blue network you have to include this too) In the screen you have to put the DMZ/orange IP as "Router"...

Maybe there are other cop users with the same porblem...
