cannot stat source file value to large
« on: March 20, 2006, 04:55:49 PM »
Hi,
I have an IBAY that holds several ISO DVD images.
The smallest is 4.5 GB, the largest is 8.1GB.
I need to transfer them (copy) to another disk once a month.
Using MC etc, I can get into the directory where the ISO images are, but can't see anything because of the repeated messages "File "X" esists but can not be stat-ed: Value too large for defined data type.
It prompts me this way on every file in the directory, eventually presenting an empty directory.

Can anyone offer a solution on how to copy files of this size to another disk.

I have been attatching an USB External Maxtor 200 GB drive.

SME VERSION 6.0-04
I create these ISO Images to the SMEServer Share with Winimage from an XP Pro PC, it creates the big ISO no problem?
But will not allow copying the ISO from the IBAY to another IBAY.

Thanks

I think I found the problem on the "copy part"
I issued  mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sda to the external drive, and could then copy the file. but still can not list from MC.
Thanks

My guess is that this is a limitation of the version of the mc program which you have installed.

Use the cp command.

Use the cp command.

I issued cp -a /home/e-smith/files/ibays/sadata/files/ /mnt/usbdisk/ before I went home last night. Came in this moring it is still at the same spot. it never copied the file. I will try one at a time.
