I'm coming to the conclusion that it would be simpler and
better if the
Domain &&
Hostnames and Addresses were somehow combined into one.
Why? For starters, how many of us actually use the proxy or wpad subdomains (hostnames)? I sure don't. Of course, they don't hurt anything, but they're only useful if you use SME for a proxy.
More importantly, it isn't possible to create a subdomain (hostname) for a domain without actually going and creating a new domain! For example, I'd like to be able to create a subdomain (hostname) of "webmail" (webmail.xxx.com) for our primary domain (xxx.com). The only way to do this from the server-manager is by adding a completely new domain.
Further, it'd super-nice if it were possible to create a subdomain (ie. hostname) for a domain and then give it a full path to redirect to. Being able to redirect to another IP or domain name is nice, but it'd be even nicer to take it a step further and have the ability to easily redirect webmail.xxx.com to xxx.com/webmail.
Currently, the only "simple" way to get the SME webmail on
http://webmail.xxx.com is to create a brand new domain and ibay for webdomain.xxx.com, and set an html redirect. The more convoluted method is manually editing the templates-custom. Grrr.
Anyhoo... these are just my thoughts. If these things are somehow possible from within server-manager, then please forgive my ignorance.
