Clamwin getting SME to send email alerts on virus detection?
« on: February 24, 2006, 06:39:07 AM »
Have SME server 6

Am using ClamWin on workstations from www.clamwin.com

In ClamWin Preferences, Email Alerts one can check mark "Send Email Alert On Virus Detection.

SMTP

I have entered my SME server IP along with UserName Admin and Password but am unable to "Send Test Email"

I've also tried entering my ISP's mail server unsuccessfully. Suggestions?

I must congratulate those involved on the update to this site. Separating the versions will resolve a great deal of frustration in getting the correct answers.

Thanks, Ken Graham

Solution was quite simple

Enter Server IP - for example 192.168.0.1 Port 25
Do NOT enter  User name or Password

enter email address, subject "ClamWin Virus Alert on ????problem computer"
enter to admin@yourdomain.com or wherever you want alert to go to, probably best if it is not to the virus infected computer.

It then works.
