cannot access server-manager or webmail from local network
« on: March 22, 2006, 10:28:57 PM »
Hi all, I am new to SME. I am currently running SME 7 pre 4. My web address is cserve.no-ip.org. I am currently having a configuration problem of some type. I am running in server only mode.  I can access my website from anywhere, but I cannot access cserve.no-ip.org/webmail or cserve.no-ip.org/server-manager, not even from inside my local network. I don't think this is any type of port forwarding problem whith my router considering that I can not hit it from inside the local network either.  The only way I can access the server-manager or webmail is if I am on local network and enter cserve/webmail or cserve/server-manager.  I have tried to search the forums and site for what I should do with no luck and a lot of frustration. I am  not really sure what keyword I should use to search for this. If anyone can give suggestions of what to do or a place to look up and read it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Ok, part of it was a port issue. I forwarded port 443 in router to local ip address of server. I can do everything except access the server-manager from outside the local network. When ever I try to enter cserve.no-ip.org I get:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /server-manager on this server.

Does anyone know how I can change the setting on this so I can access the server-manager outside local network or where I need to read about this at?

Did you ever think to read the manual ?
Did you ever think to go through all the server manager options one by one ?

If you did either of those, then you would have easily seen the setting in the server manager Remote Access panel.

An alternative is to VPN to the server from anywhere and connect using https://serverIP/server-manager
