ok, i've been trying to setup a server and gateway but i'm having many problems. first my network is a windows base network and i've setup the server to the right work ground however it still will not show up. next it will not connect to the internet, connection SWbell DSL with pppoe, and i've tried everything i could think of to get it to work.  finally i can't access the server manager from the network.
can some one please help me?

Are you sure that you have your ethernet cables the right way around, try switching them. can you ping the server?

To access server-manager it takes names resolution thus your clients must be getting thier ip addresses from the dhcp that e-smith is running. have you tried to access the manger via http://192.168.3.1/server-manager? If you can only access this via the ip address you aren't running a DNS or some other form of name resolution (almost like WINS in windows).
Make sure in serevr admin that you've mathed the group name in the workgroup area to that of the e-smith name via server-admin --> configuration --.workgroup and examine the settings there.
As for DSL , I run cable and I had to call tech support and have them reset my modem as it memorizes the mac address and I was swapping nic's back and forth thus confounding the access issue.
I hope this helped... if not please print out and flush down the toilet.....
