Backup of server
« on: April 07, 2006, 10:29:26 AM »
Hello,

I tried to make a back up of my server sme 6.5 with server-manager. I juste save it into my external Har drive (which use NTFS) and it always stop at 3.99GO.

I have arround 50 Go in the sme server, so i must make a backup.

I tried to save the file on a network disk on an other SME Server but it's the same problem.

Maybe the problem come from that on the sme server 6.5 there is only 10 Go free on the hard drive ? Does the server need space avaible on it's hard drive ?

Thank you

Install the backup2ws contrib from dmay (now revised & enhanced for sme7 as backup2) & in the new server manager panel specify a size limit of 2Gb for your backup file. It will save the file into contiguous 2Gb chunks.
Note if you want to restore from the resultant backup file (which most of us do) you will need to limit the size to 2Gb chunks.

For more information search on backup & backup2ws.

I suggest you review your server manager panel settings, as something is wrong or perhaps your workstation drive is not really accessible.

That's not your problem.
That 's the message from linux rar, asking you to register the evaluation copy.
You can ignore that message as backup2ws works OK without linux rar being registered.

Try a small backup job of /root only which will quickly show if it completes satisfactorily or not.

Hi,

I just solved the problem,
in fact I made an error for the user name. I put the username which permit to go on the directory shared on the network. In fact I must use the login and password in order to log on the SME.

Thank you for you help :)
