IDE Raid, Disk Quota and Chinese Files Problem!

Dear All:

First of all, thanks for answer my email. (my question) :)

In Case, I was work in an Engineering Company in HK. Our Company was want to build up a server for file storage and printing services for the copyright law. I have to build up a SME for testing in our company (It was introduced in a computing magzine). After a period of daily operation, we have found that SME Server was great and mainly can suit for our operation. But in case, I need to solve some of  technical problems with the Server.

First is some of the clinets was work in China, so we got some files with the chinese name. As I copy these files to the SME server, it has to change the file's name in some symbols and I can't read or modify anymore.

Second was my boss want the server has a hardwre Disk Mirroring for the ISO system, but in case, he don't want to use the SCSI Raid and Harddisk cause it was so expensive. So I want to know can the server support the IDE Raid?

Third was that, when using the I-Bay and the Presonal Directory in the SME server was no limit to useing the Disk Space, I want the I-Bays and those personal directory have a disk quota management at the server.

The Last question was we have using a Dynamic DNS services at DNS2go.com. I have download some instruction at the SME site, but actually I was not able to understand the instruction. It was due to my limited knowlege in Linux. Can you teach me. ( I was in the Building Services Engineering Displine, my computer knowledge was come from the PC magzine and some books for interesting)

Thanks for reading my mail, I am looking forward to get the reply and teaching from you.

Best Regard,
Stanley Mok

If you are using ESSG 4.1.2 which is based on RH 7.0, you could use either the Adaptec 1200A (RAID 0/1) or the 2400A (RAID 5) IDE RAID controllers with the RH 7.0 drivers - I've done this successfully before.

If you are using SME 5 which uses a non-standard kernel, then you are out of luck as far as Adaptec cards goes. I think I remember reading that some models of 3Ware cards work with SME 5 out of the box but I have not personally used them so I cannot verify one way or the other.
