smtp pass through?
« on: May 02, 2006, 01:50:19 AM »
i'm testing sme 7.0rc1 but the smtp pass-through doesn't seem to be working. it still wants to answer port 25.. i also put in a redirect and that didn't work.

we've got a separate scalix server and would like to use that for smtp, pop and imap. am i missing something?

thanks!

The SME server will listen on port25 and will accept and process email for any valid domain. What you need to do is to set the delegate mail server to point at the scalix box (internal mail server in email delivery settings). That way any mail received by SME will pass through the anti-spam and anti-virus mechanisms before being passed over to Scalix. Using SME in this way provides a nicely tuned low cost anti-spam / anti-virus solution for any third party mail server.

Have frequently used SME in this way for both Scalix & Domino servers.

you are most correct. i actually had it all setup correctly but wasn't testing properly. doing a good and proper test revealed that it worked as advertised. it's just a little quiet about it.

thanks!
