Send mail to windows exchange server ?
« on: February 25, 2006, 06:48:04 PM »
I have a sme7pre3 in server and gateway mode and like to delegate e-mail processing to a windows exchange server.

I inscribed the ip-adress of the exchange server to delegate the service but i got some error-messages:

One line per reason for delivery failure. Information on each line:
* del is the number of deliveries that ended for this reason.
* xdelay is the total xdelay on those deliveries.

del  xdelay  reason
  4   20,00  192.168.0.5 does not like recipient./Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 User unknown/Giving up on 192.168.0.5./
  2   10,00  Connected to 192.168.0.5 but sender was rejected./Remote host said: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address/

any suggestions ?

Hi

I've seen the seem on Exchange Servers (5.5/200/2003) - but not always for all accounts on the exchange side.

Example: At one client with about 15 Users, it worked great for 13 Users, but not for two. One of those accounts had to be the boss of that company ;-(

It appears it is account specific.

Deleting and recreating the account on the windows side sometimes help.

Not in my case here though ;-(

I simply setup the exchane to recieve mails for alias@domainname.xxx AND for alias@pseudo.domainname.xxx.

I created all users in SME with an obscure password, and forwarded the mails to the stated address.

Made the necessary DNS entries  so that Name Resolution wasn't an issue...

YMMV
