I went looking for modindex (had installed it earlier while looking at rc1) - couldn't find it on the contribs page. I looked at the page history and it seems as if a bunch of software got eliminated. On purpose or a page editing error??

Did you have Modindex working on RC1?
I had not heard of anyone having any success installing Modindex on SME 7.
This thread talks about installing it on SME7, but without success.

It worked fine (for me at least) on rc1 and rc2 (same box - cd based upgrade).

Go to Software Installer and install Libstdc++ and modperl
After configuring and rebooting install Dmay's contrib
Works fine on rc2

Agreed - worked fine for me (RC2) just now. I didn't install Libstdc++ - just modperl and modindex.
I used a SME 7 contribs history (immediate prev version) page to find the SW though - I think the contribs page needs fixing (but am too much of a noob to know for sure).

I restored the content that was missing from version 118 (two edits back). Probably someone messed up the wiki while saving version 119. The missing information should be there now.
