I'm trying to use a SME server for use as a domain controller for a school, and I can't get the XP machines to join the domain. There is a mix of 9x and XP at the school, and the 9x machines all log into the domain fine.
When I try to get a XP machine to join the domain, it asks me for a username and password with access to join. I use the Admin account and it comes back with an error that the domain controller can't be found. I've used the reg hacks and still the same result.
I think it's seeing the server because on the XP machine, if I try to get it to join a domain that doesent exist, it won't ask for a username and password, just error out right away.
Any help is greatly appreciated
