Ask clear questions and you well get answers.

Slagging off contribs.org is not the way to get help.

If you click the Ip address and see that it is open to the public to make the changes they want and what I would like to do is put a password system so that nobody can make changes to the admin server manager section.
1) I need Help with this?1) setting up a password system for http://66.126.84.172/server-manager/

If i click you link i get a 403 unauthorised page. I thought as part of the install setup it asked you for an admin password. Mine always does

Your right your domain is not responding. I use 1and1 for my domains so set up a dns entry to use my ip and my domain name as the mx entry. Im unsure how you did yours?

http://66.126.84.172/server-manager/

I get:

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /server-manager/ on this server."

What issue do you have with needing a password?

This is an issue you need to take up with whoever is supplying your domain name, also have you setup forwarding and DNS record correctly?

This is not an SMEServer issue.

Server-Manager is only accessible from within the local network.

That is correct to a point ... as a default it's only accessible internally ... But ... you can open it up to external as well as thats how I do my test units.

Even if you open it up to external usage it still asks for user/password.

One trap that ppl fall into is when once you access the server-manager page and close the internet browser ... then re-open it ... it won't as you for the user/pass every time ... once it has let you in it seems to let you in again without asking.

This is not an SME problem ... I think it's just the caching or someting like that of the internet browser.

Someone with more experiance within that area could clarify it a bit more.

Regards,

Tib
