Can the SME Serve do DHCP Superscoping!?
« on: July 05, 2006, 05:23:29 PM »
Hi!  Is there a way to configure the SME Server 7 to have a DHCP Superscope just as in Windows 2003 Server?

I have an SME Server on the 192.168.40.0 /24 Network, but I need to provide DHCP Services to the 192.168.10.0 /24, 192.168.20.0 /24, and 192.168.30.0 /24 Networks.

Would that be possible? How?  Can I map each of the Computers MAC's Addresses to an IP?  Thank you!!!

SME server supports only DHCP for a single local network.

SME server is designed to be customisable vi a custom templates. But you would need to determine exactly how to customise it to your needs, or pay someone else to do that customisation.

Do you have DHCP relay agents running on the routers between each of your local networks?

DHCP Relay OK!

Yes!  Our Netgear Layer 3 Switch is running DHCP Relay Agent.  Actually, we use a Server with Win2003Serv OS installed to provide DHCP to the 192.168.40.0 and 192.168.10 Networks.  But the Server is located in a Lab (is a very small server, not dedicated Server).

I would like to let my SME Server take care of their PC's IPs on their Network.

Where I can get information on how to create those customizable templates?  I'm not a Linux Guru, but I like to learn.

Thank you!
