SubnetMask wrong when logging in via VPN

Hi
I have a SME 7.0 server, with 2 netcards
(setup as Server-Gateway), I wanted to use it as a (PPTP) VPN - server.
My Lan ip is 10.40.80.x- subnet mask 255.255.252.0
The Question:
my VPN clients gets the right IP (from the
IP range) but the wrong subnet mask 255.255.255.255 and NOT
255.255.255.0.
/etc/pptpd.conf looks right & I've tryed making a custom template as descriped at:
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/Howto%20specify%20predefined%20IP%20pool%20for%20the%20PPTP%20VPN
No luck.
