connection flooded with DNS requests

My setup:

VSAT internet connection with IPCop as the firewall / gateway.  On the green network, I have put SME7.0 for my PDC and file server.  IPCop is the DHCP server, not SME7.

I had a test box (still do, actually) running SME6.0.1 for several weeks with no problems.

However, as soon as I got SME7 up, my internet connection began to act flakey with DNS problems.  Some requests would go through, others wouldn't, etc.  I check IPCop's connections tab and it was filled (more than 1,000) with pending DNS requests.  As soon as I shutdown the SME7 box, the pending connections clear up and everyone on the network can access the internet as normal.

I saw this once at another site with SME6, but could not track it down.  In the midst of some major network changes, it got fixed.

something to do with SME as the PDC?  Do I need an entry in the corporate DNS field?  It's got to be something simple, no?

Never mind, figured it out

I can't explain it, but here's what seemed to work.

Instead of putting my ISP DNS address in the Corporate DNS Setting (I tried it), I put in my gateway address (IPCop).

All better.

I usually do the same. If I dont my router will eventually run out of memory with all the dns requests.

SME uses a number of public dns servers to resolve - problem is it fires of too many connections at once.
