A proposal for the "subject" line in forum posts
« on: July 21, 2006, 06:15:08 PM »
Hello!

I've noticed in several recent forum posts that the originator went back and changed the subject line to include "[Solved]" when a satisfactory solution has been reached.  I would like to propose that we adopt this as a convention for the forum entries.  IMHO, this simple convention would make it easier/faster for anyone researching a problem to find the appropriate solution!

This should not replace the convention of posting bugs in bugzilla though!  If the solution to a forum post is that a problem is a bug, enter it in the bug tracker.

Following this convention might make it easier for volunteers to find material for FAQ's in the future.

Comments anyone?

Sounds good.

Did you have a plan for how you might promote the convention?

<grin>  Just like that.  Ie - just start doing it and hope for the best - set the example / standard.

I am a member on anther forum similar to this and that is the "default" standard and it makes it so much easier to find good acurrate results. It was never discussed that is should be used, it has just been adopted as a courtsey  to other forum users.
