How can i use SME 7.0 as a web server ?
« on: July 27, 2006, 03:07:17 PM »
Hello.
My question may seem a bit stupid, but my problem hurts.
I ve just installed the 7.0 , because my old server that had the 6.0 version, had "died" - bad hardware problems. So, i decided to install the 7.0 , but it seems that i have big troubles. I'm  using  the server  to host a domain on the web.I cannot acces the domain name outside the LAN, but only using the IP (the public IP for my domain).
In the past version (6.x) there was a checkmark "Publish globally the DNS", where, now, in the 7.0 there ain't. That's my problem, or there is something else ?
Please help me with this, because i'm in deep trouble. (mentioning that i've configured the server as it should be with 7.0 , server-gateway, correct settings for 2 NIC's, and all stuff..)
Thanks.

"Publish globally" only ever had meaning if you were subscribed to Mitel's ServiceLink product service.

For DNS updates to be seen from the Internet, you will need to interact with your domain's DNS provider. If you are using a dynamic DNS service, that should happen automatically if you have filled in the correct details in the console. If not, you will need to interact with your DNS publisher some other way, probably via their web interface.

Have you read SME server's documentation?
