Dear Community,

I have searched for this, but the only answer I found didn't work.

I would like to enable SMTP authentication on port 25 without SSL.

I had a look at this post

and tried these commands.

db configuration setprop smtpd access public
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event email-update

but no joy - this is what I get after telnet to port 25 from externally.

250-PIPELINING
250-8BITMIME
250 SIZE 15000000

AUTH LOGIN PLAIN
500 Unrecognized command

Any help gratefully recieved,
