eGroupware install can't pass step 1
« on: August 12, 2006, 12:06:22 AM »
I'm trying to install the 1.2-104 version of eGroupWareon a fresh installed SME 7.0 server,  I followed the eGroupware HOWTO, but keep getting stuck at "Step 1 - Simple Application Management". When the setup runs through all it's initial checks, it has the same warnings just like those in the howto, which is fine I think, and it can create the header.inc.php file. Then I login to do the setup/config, when I click on the 'Install' button, it just takes me back to the login page, and no error message is given.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I can check or change in my setup? or the place to find the error log of some kind?

Thanks

David

I had the same issue.

I don't remember exactly what I had to do -- but I think there was a note on this in the FAQ section of the eGroupware page -- there are a couple of shell commands to run to change something about PHP or MySQL - I forget which...

You might want to check out this topic: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=31973.0.

It looks like egroupware should be pretty easy to install, just find and follow the instructions for manually creating a new "mysql" database.

The other problem I had that doesn't seem to be mentioned there had to do with the "Sessions Type" setting - when I tried the "PHP with restore" for "fastest" operation the system was unusable - usually giving a blank page after login, sometimes painting a partial screen...

Sorry for not providing enough info for this issue.

I have a fresh installed SME 7.0 final version, which has MySQL 4.1.20 and PHP 4.3.9 by default, I'm trying to install the eGroupWare 1.2.104 by following the HOWTO under the contribs: http://serviceinfosg.com:8185/dmdocuments/HowTo%20Installer%20eGroupWare%201.2%20sue%20SME%20Serveur%207.0%20English.html

The problem is I keep getting stuck at "Step 1 - Simple Application Management", which is step 13 in the HOWTO, when I click on the 'Install' button, it just takes me back to the login page, I can't go to the next setup step.

I hope this is clear enough for you guys to understand my problem.  Any help ia appraciated.

And thanks mmccarn, I will check on eGroupWare FAQ to find out more infomation.

David

Hello my friend,

So please check the file header.inc.php if it's really created (whitout others caract...) in the eGroupWare ibays under (HTML) if YES, please change the write access to 777 and try again... If the files was not created automatically, download it from the STEP 12 and copy in the egroupware folder with WinSCP and change is access write to 777...

Let me know,

Snoopyski

Thank you all for the help, I found out it's the IE6.0 browser problem, same setup if I use Firefox, it can be configured successfully.

To confirm that, I have tried several workstations with IE 6.0 without luck.

So, if you have same problem, try different browser. Don't know why, but that works.
