greetings. well, not sure how to release the ip on the linksys router but I think with e-smith it will release the ip on server shut down. an easier alternative might be to setup the port forwarding pannel on the linksys to allow webmail traffic to be routed to the sme box by forwarding port 443 since web mail should be available only on an ssl basis anyway. had to put my plug in for not sending passwords in clear text over the internet. you could in theory, forward incomming requests on port 80 from the outside through te linksys to your sme box but rogers security has people with port 80 open to the world flagged as users running servers and will suspend your account. when I was a customer I used to have fun tracking what they tried to find on my system and they looked for ports 21 and 80 and they really didn't prob much deeper than that. so I think 443 and ssl web mail behind the linksys as a nat device will be your best route and the arp clearing issue will not come up. if you want to disucss it further, write me privately. will be going off the lists for a bit to go get me a guide dog but will still check private mail.
