I am running a SME server with mostly Windows XP workstations.  My major database application crashed last week but I have it back up and running under my administrator account.  However, my problem is that most of the users cannot run the application apparently because Windows XP is not able to pass the permissions to access the bay where the database is located.

When I go to PROPERTIES for the mapped drive (i.e. to the bay on the server) and click allow ALL for permissions, it will not save.  I get an error message that it was unable to make the changes and save.  I thought about using CHMOD from root but the problem seems to be passing the permission between the Windows XP workstations and the SME server.

Can anyone help me?  I'm open to ideas.

Another problem is that the SME server will not recognize my personal account as an administrator even though I am included in the administrators group.  So, I have log on and off between the admin account and my personal account.  Any ideas?

Hi,

You need to set the permissions in the ibay... put people in proper groups and allows those groups to have access to the ibay.
