Howto change Internal IP
« on: August 25, 2006, 02:40:22 PM »
Hello,

it's a rather simple question... i thought before i started...

ok, how to change the IP of the Internal Interface? So that the firewall, ip masq and stuff is still working of course.
Is it possible? or is the only way to this to reinstall the server?

i want to change the IP form 1.1.1.X (old network) to 192.168.0.X (new network).

Tried to manually play around with ifconfig route and iptables, but the result was more bad than good, because the server-manager still thought he was on the old network and therefore everything done with him was crap.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings.

Simply login as user admin on your (remote) console. Then choose "Configure this server" and adjust whatever you want.

hello,

thanks for the quick reply, but...
ok, i think i'm not blind. in the server-manager is no link like the one u mentioned (i check every link, just to make sure).

Could it be possible that this feature is not available?
The Server is an  "SME Server 7.0beta9", but with all updates installed that are available through yum.

Or would it be a good idea to install the final release because not everything that made it in the final is available for the Beta?

cheers.

I'm afraid you are looking at the wrong place. The console is the monitor + keyboard directly attached to your server and a remote console is an SSH session to your server (for example with PuTTY).
