Topic: SpamAssassin & Webmail

SpamAssassin was enabled on my SME 7 server.  My wife uses POP3 mail and I use IMAP mail.  After +- 200 spam emails (over a space of 5 days or so) were manualy filtered into my junkmail folder SpamAssassin started filtering for itself.

The problem is this.  I can enter into webmail and move emails that are not spam from the junkmail folder to the Inbox or other mail folders.  Or vis-a-versa.  My wife can not.  In webmail she has a junkmail folder and an Inbox.   If she opens her POP mail first then her Inbox is empty when she goes into webmail  How can she select mail that has already been downloaded to her PC, tag it as junk and use it to train SpamAssassin?  I'm guessing that she can select mail in the junkmail folder that is not spam and move it to the inbox.  Am I right about this?

Why does your wife use POP3 and no IMAP like you?
It is not possible to transfer the junkmails back to the server, if you do not use IMAP.

Forgive my asking this.  But are you married?  My wife uses POP mail because she wishes to.  

She is my Wife.  Not my servant, my child or my employe.  

From your reply I gather that I'll just have to work a little harder in training SpamAssassin.  No biggie, I'll manage.

Sure, I am married. But if I tell my wife, WHY IMAP is better suited for this case, and she refuses to use it, she has to live with the disadvantages.

I know, that IMAP has other disadvantages (for example slower), but just to use webmail from anywhere in the world, and to use SpamAssassin, I would never switch to POP3 again.

I would just switch her mailclient to IMAP, she probably will never notice the difference )
