With the new version of Mitel being released, I am doing a clean install on a new machine and migrating from server only to server and gateway.
Currently the e-smith server is 192.168.1.1 and the gateway address of the router is 192.168.1.254. I have static ip's for the 10 workstations on the LAN. In setting up the server-gateway machine I will have to assign ip addresses for the two NICS. My thought was to keep the internal interface at 192.168.1.1 and use whatever e-smith suggests for the external NIC (192.168.65.17 in my case)
I then have to enter the ip address of the gateway. As I said it is currently 192.168.1.254. When I enter this and test the internet access from the e-smith console, it fails. Do I have to change the gateway address of the router to something like 192.168.65.254, to be on the same subnet as the external NIC? Or is the failure to get internet access osmething other than having the gateway address at 192.168.1.254.
I want to be able to telnet to the router from my Linux machine. If the router gateway address is changed from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.65.254, what changes would I have to make in routing tables to be able to reach it by telnet.
