Ifconfig eth0 with no IP
« on: September 26, 2006, 10:16:48 PM »
Hi.
With a fresh install af 7.0 final, I configured the NIC with the internal address 192.168.0.3 during the setup.
But afterwards when I log in, the eth0 interface has no IP. I then have to type it manually "ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.3", and the I can word.
But when I reboot the address is lost again, at DNS is not working.
What has gone wrong?
Best regards, Loejf.

Two possible culprits:
1) The network card used for your internal network is not supported.  What card are you using?
2) IP 192.168.0.3 is already used on your network, ping this address and see if it is available.

Hi.
The address is not in use on the network.
If the NIC is not supported, how can it then be, that I manually can assign the IP-address to the NIC, at communicate?
Loejf.

OK, if I understand you correctly, once you have entered an ip address manually, the server is working until you reboot?  If this is the case, you may have identified a bug, please enter a report in Bugzilla.  The Devs may want to know about this. Thanks.
