https works, but http not anymore
« on: September 02, 2006, 11:47:00 PM »
I have an issue with my homepage(s). Normal http-pages time-out when my site is requested, but every page is visible using https.

I already analyzed that my registrars-DNS is working correct, so does my router forwarding the ports. The strange thing that using the local IP-address works fine, and localhost on the server works food.
The only error is http-request from the LAN and WAN.

There is nothing changed the last couple of days' so I have no idea where to look for.

Has your ISP suddenly decided to block port 80 ?

My provider told me that nothing was changed in there network or policy.

In my DNS any request for my domain is forwarded to some other port (21321). This port is open on my router and with a redirscript on the server this same portnumber is tranlated to port 80.
At this moment my site is working. But if I want to use webmail I have to alter the URL to go to port 443.

I'm not sure why this workaround works.
In my opinion it can be because the ISP is blocking port 80, although they say they don't. Or I have an error with port 80 on the server.
If I request my external IP-address in a webbrowser I stil have a timeout. Only requests for www.mydomainname.com can view my homepage.
All other traffic (ports) have no problem at al.

Anybody a hint?

Hmm. The solution I have is not working for a permanent situation.

Wich files do I need to check, what do I have to configure to take care that http request arrive at port 80 again when they arrive at my server.
