Although I've been using Linux on the desktop for a few years now this is my first experience with SME Server.  It looks like a really great distro.  I want to install it in a small office environment as a domain controller with Windows 2000/XP workstations.  I have successfully done this in a test environment.

I would like to create a publicly accessible share on SME so authenticated users can use this as on office share, but I don't know the best way to do this in SMES.  Would creating an i-bay accesible to the group "office" be OK?  I would like to have it fully read-writable for the office group without having to re-enter login credentials. I don't want it available via http.

Is there a better way to do this in SMES?

BTW - Is there a preferred way to name the domain if it won't be providing mail or web services?

Configure it in server manager just like you have suggested
It is all in the manual if you want confirmation.

As you don't intend to use the domain then it doesn't matter what it is called, but I would suggest you name it something meaningful as it will likely be used for those things in time, and then you won't have to change anything later.
