Connection Problems

Hi, I need some help because one of my computers can't view the sharded folders etc on e-smith.

I have a small network consisting of e-smith 4.1 and three Win2k PC's two of the Win 2k PC's can see the e-smith PC in "Computers near me" and "Network Neighborhood" but the other can't?

All of them can connect to the internet so I know they are all connected. I've checked the network configurations on the Win2k PC's and all is the same settings apart from the IP addresses.

Any idea what it might be?

Also I used to have a link on one of my PC's that would take me directly to the Browser console so that I can make changes etc on the e-smith box without having to use a monitor etc on the e-smith box. Can someone tell me the address that I will need to type in the Browser Address bar to allow me to to access e-smith?

Thanks for you help

The address to type in the browser woud be the IP address of the server, port 980, as discussed in the manual.  If you're referring to some kind of text console through your browser, that would be something you added yourself, and I wouldn't know where you put it.

On the third machine (the one that can't see the e-smith box), try going to start\run and entering \.

There have been significant changes to the file/printer sharing code since version 4.1; upgrading to 5.1.2 would probably be a good idea.

Thank you for your help Dan.

That was the brower console I was looking for. The problem with connecting to the e-smith server was because a firewall was blocking the connection. I should have though about that first.

Thanks again
