Topic: Install to USB Key

Hi all,
    I'm really wanting to install sme server so it runs from a USB key.  The installation gets up to the partitioning part and fails miserably - with the inability to read partitions from the usb device I'm guessing.  Is there a quick console tweak I could do before it reaches that point to enable it to install, or am I playing with fire here?  Thanks for any help in advance.
