VPN Issues

Before I had SME I would use Cisco VPN Client to connect to my university.  I can connect either by IPSec over UDP or IPSec over TCP...I would connect , and be able to connect to university sites / forums that are part of the intranet.

Now with SME I am still able to communicate with their VPN server, and verify my username and password, but I am unable to access anything that requires VPN to access.

Any ideas as to what I should do to make VPN work again?  I tried installing PPTP software and using the software on SME, no luck.  Also tried using Microsoft's VPN software and no luck either.

Thanks
Trey

Did you have a public IP address on your workstation before installing SME?

Current Cisco VPN concentrators support IPSec connections from NAT'ed hosts, but older units did not.  I have a couple of clients who have to connect using Cisco's VPN client, and the connecting computer must have a public IP address or the connection fails.

Another possible issue would come up if your local IP address is on the same network segment as the address assigned to the VPN connection - this leaves your computer confused about how to route traffic once the VPN connection is established.
