Selintra SAIL external IP address problem
« on: October 11, 2006, 03:56:28 AM »
Hi;

Just installed the latest SAIL rpms on my SME7 server/gateway machine. I'm testing this on my home network to learn the system. I followed the install directions on the selintra site, but when I attempt to save the global settings, I get an error that indicates that I must enter my external IP. First of all the instruction seem to say that with my configuration I don't need to enter an IP, but then when I do enter my external IP it won't save. I get the same error as if I don't enter an IP and attempt to save. So far the process has been easy so I'm not sure what I'm missing. Any ideas?

Thanks,

-P

Hi dtech

If you are running in server-only mode then you must enter an external ip address in order to hande SIP RTP correctly.  If you are running in server-gateway mode then this is not necessary.  In either case, if you don't enter anything, the legend will be displayed in blue as a warning, however you can ignore it and continue.  Your other settings will save OK.

Kind Regards

Thanks for the quick response. The problem is that my other settings in Global Settings aren't saved; for example, I choose 'us' as my country identifier and it goes back to 'uk' if I save, go to another page, and then select Global Settings again. Same thing with Call Recording.

Thanks,

Hi Dtech,

You've got us stumped.  We can't replicate the problem as you describe it.  Could you give us a step by step account?

When we set the fields to "us" and "One-touch" we press the save button and we then can go off to any other screen and return without losing our data.

Kind Regards

I just installed a server yesterday with sail and i kind of got the same thing. When i open Global Settings immidiatly after the install, the "commit" button is red. If i click it, i get the message "Operation status report -  Errors were found in input!" at the top of the page. If i try to save any change, it is gone if i leave the page and go back.
I just did another install on VmWare this morning and it reproduced.
I have installed the following RPM's in the sequence written here:

smeserver-asterisk-zappri-MPP-1.2.6-1.i686.rpm
smeserver-asterisk-1.2.10-1.i686.rpm
smeserver-asterisk-sounds-1.2.2-2.noarch.rpm
xinetd-2.3.13-4.4E.1.i386.rpm
tftp-server-0.39-1.i386.rpm
selintra-sail-2.1.14-334.noarch.rpm

If i remove selintra-sail-2.1.14-334.noarch.rpm and install selintra-sail-2.1.13-312.noarch.rpm, then there is no problem.

On my own server i do not have the problem.

UPDATE! I did an upgrade to selintra-sail-2.1.14-340.noarch.rpm, and the problem is gone.

Hi Per,

Sorry you've had to mess about with this.  All we can assume is that there may have been a bug we missed in 334.  I tried to replcate on version  -990, which we don't publish, but is basically the .iso variant of 334.

For what it's worth, your install looks impeccable to us.  However, we've never run sail under VmWare so that may be a first!

Kind Regards

Sorry for not replying earlier, I was unable to access the forums today for some reason...

Anyway, I updated to 340 as Per did and now things are working.

I just do it to help, that is the little thing i can do with my lack of time and knowledge. And i am happy to do so!
I have had much joy and use out SME since V4 or so, and with SAIL included, i think it's a great platform to have for communication today.
Now i just hope you will include the danish indications.conf stuff and include it in globals as well. Then i don't brake it every time i upgrade to test a new version of SAIL  And maybe also include the danish carrier Musimi.

I have not used SAIL for making calls on VmWare, but just to see if it looks OK before installing on my server, but it's working OK for that.

I believe this is a bug in 334. This version made some improvements to the globals panel. One of these is to use a drop-down for the Operator Extension instead of free-form text. On first install no extensions are defined so nothing appears in this field. However, the code in 334 was still checking that this field contained 4 digits, and so gives an error which means you are unable to save your changes in globals. A workaround is to define an extension, select this as the Operator Extension, and you should be able to save your changes to globals.

This bug is fixed in 340, and I have deleted 334 from our ftp site.

Selintra
