Topic: Blackberry Funambol Won't Sync Contacts

I've been working to get the Horde SyncML up and running using the Funambol client. So far I've had great results with the Outlook Client plug-in syncing Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks. However, when I install the Funambol client on my Blackberry 8330 the latest version (8.7) will not work at all. The only luck I've had is with an older version (8.1) and it will do everything except contacts.

The plugin finds the server negotiates but never downloads. As I said, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks all work fine.

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?

Did you already look through your logfiles for clues around the time you tried and failed? Guessing the download is done through the web server (as I am unfamiliar with Funambol/SyncML) it might be that clues are in the web server log files (/var/log/httpd/access_log and /var/log/httpd/error_log). Otherwise there might be specific Funambol/SyncML logs.

Im having the same problem as u in syncing horde contacts in blackberry using funambol syncml...Did u manage to find out the solution..As for now i can sync contacts from my client(blackberry) to horde server but not other way around...According to log, the data is transmitted but did not appear on horde address book. Any idea?

I have been unable to get the contacts to work with Funambol 8.0.4 and the newest version only returns sync errors. So... I install SyncJeCL from Nexthaus. It doesn't do notes but thought I'd try. Turns out it will work with contacts, but nothing else. Funambol 8.0.4 will work with Calendar, Tasks, & Notes but not Contacts. My work around is to run both syncML programs. SyncJeCL for contacts and Funambol for everything else. I have contacted Nexthaus customer support but they have yet to come up with a solution. Needless to say this is not a very satisfactory situation.

I remember looking at the issues involved in using Funambol, SyncML etc to sync with various devices and server applications, a couple of years back. My conclusion then was that you needed to be running SME8 to have compatible app versions.

You might carefully check the system device requirements for using Funambol, SyncML etc.

I executed the instructions in the wiki to the letter. In fact, I am currently running the Funambol Outlook plug-in to sync my various Outlooks. (In fact, it works better and more reliably than the Funambol server that I was previously using.) That's what has me scratching my head. It works well with the older BB Funambol except for contacts. I get sync errors with the newest Funambol version on for all sync data even though the plugin appears to work otherwise.
