Nope normally not... what version are you on at the moment and from what mirror are you downloading?

Perhaps you first need to consider updating yum (this is probably not at the latest version, considering the larfe amount of data for your update), With the latest version comes a fastestmirror plugin, maybe this will improve download speeds as it will probably find a faster mirror than the one you might be using at the moment.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than its worth ~ Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

FYI: updating just yum will not help.  You need to do the following and update all the yum components.

yum update *yum*
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot
In life, you must either "Push, Pull or Get out of the way!"

I think updating smeserver-yum will grab everything that is required.

How about installing the 7.1 Alpha release.
