Kernel Panic
« on: August 14, 2006, 09:26:03 AM »
I have just installed sme 7.0 and have been running it for a couple of weeks. However the last few days has resulted in getting a kernel panic message. The sme box is then down until I re-boot it. Once re-booted things seem to work as they should.

Here is an extract from my log.

bonding?

hi there. i too have been having kernal panics ever since i started messing around with network bonding, using realtek 8139 nics. i am curious if you too are using identical nics as this is what was causing my kernal panic and in your log it mentions network bonding

another guy is having the same problems as us, see post http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=34722.0

I also had the same problem.

Solved by replacing the 2 (different) Realtek NICs i had with :
1. Intel NIC for lan
2. 3Com NIC for external network.

Don't forget to re-configure the console since the server "remembers" it had Realtek cards.

I have the same problem and i found this card
D-Link DFE-530TX 10/100 Mb/s or  Belkin F5D5000Y

Would it be ok to replace one of my realtec's with this one? I have bought a new card ant it wasn't compatible and i can't tell if theese cards are based on realtec chipset.

What do you think about this card?
"It should just work" if it doesn't report it. Thanks!
