Creating a Raid1
« on: January 16, 2007, 04:58:27 AM »
I just upgraded one of my servers from 6.5 to 7.1.  All went well with the upgrade however, I added a second drive to the server but since this was an upgrade I can no longer create a mirror according to the SME guide http://smeserver.sourceforge.net/sme70/OnePageManual?v=36k#h72-4
It says I must perform a clean install then do a restore.  I've read several posts.  It seems to me I should be able do this manually but I'd like some input.  It certainly would be easier than a new install and restoring from tape.

Thanks

hal

Hi,
is your disk free of data / partitions ?
I do not see much reason for such behaviour :?

Nevertheless, adding manually a disk for a SME7 RAID1 setting is quite simple:
create same disk layout on both disk
join the new disk to the raid array
    monitor task

et voilĂ . More detailled informations here
Be carefull as tariqf was having a specific configuration, and do not forget the grub step.
