SME Server and Windows Clients - Central Login Password DB
« on: July 31, 2007, 06:31:58 PM »
I want to setup SME to be able to authenticate users from any Windows client. I've been researching LDAP for this task, but is there an easier solution?

The server is for a computer lab -- I want students to be able to login from any windows machine on the network so that they can share files and have their own home directory.

What method is easier than LDAP since SME isn't really designed for LDAP??

Thanks,

Nick

sme for student lab

I'm also installing a sme box for a student lab.

before we had a windows server with active directory with roaming profiles.

Now i just set up a standard sme box and the same works fine as domain controller, and even 10 times faster.

it's a lot easyer to manage.

So where to start:

install sme

update sme

take a look at: http://www.howtoforge.com/fileserver_with_sme_server7.1

and for sure, stay on this website, you will get the best server ever.....
The sky is not the limit, But when I reach the sky, for sure I will not try to go to the limit.... (donated $25,- upto now)
