SME Server 7.x Contribs

++edit
I suggest documenting them in the Wiki (as well or instead). For some I have made a start already and some of you already followed. Have a look here: http://wiki.contribs.org/Category:Contrib

add your favourite contrib, follow the style already set
++

Contribs are add-on rpms that provide new functionality to the SME Server distribution.

Contribs are sorted into two categories - SME Extras and SME Dev.  Contribs in the SME Extras category have been tested and approved by the SME Server development team.  None have been approved yet as the process for approval is being reviewed.  Contribs in the SME Dev category are not approved and using them is done entirely at your own risk.  Support for all contribs is via the community forums.  Bugs against these contribs should be reported in the bug tracker - you are also very welcome to report suggestions and attach patches to improve the contribs.

This page is under construction...
To-do list:
- add all the contribs above like the smeserver-mailman example
- create official forum topics perhaps in a new category that limits new posts to moderators - and sign up some moderators to edit this post as needed and add a new post for each new contrib as needed.
- scour the forums for other rpm packaged contribs and add them as components in the bug tracker and then here
- sort the contribs on this page by category of use, rather than by their status in smedev/smeextras.
- add a link to this page in the header by using the super-nifty viewpost.php link - http://wiki.contribs.org/viewpost.php?p=155582

Me too, it's not quite ready though.  I'm not sure what the plan is so far - anyone interested, lets discuss it here:

PS:
how to add an entry to the bugzilla for a new contribs?
Is it possible to have a personal space to store this contribs on the mirrors ?

Where do we let ppl know about the contribs in dev.

eg: - e-smith-loginscript-0.2-2.el4.sme.noarch.rpm  is not ready for testing ... there are a few things required to be fixed.

Actualy there is a fixed version of this already that can be put into dev and that one taken out.

Here is the location: -
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/jbennett/sme7/loginscript/

Both srpm and rpm are there.

I have been using this contrib for the past year with no probs at all.

Regards,

Tib

Exists the possibility of adding a category in bugzilla only for scripts?
For example, I have an script named SMESiteMaker, and I think this is an useful tool, but does not enter the contribs category because he is not rpm.

I'd suggest making it an rpm, the goal is to only install rpm software

Raise a bug if the devguide doesn't explain how to build an rpm clearly enough

I have been thinking the same thing... it might also fix the issue of admins having to modify templates to install software in /opt instead of ibays.
