Backing SME up "remotely"
« on: August 30, 2007, 10:47:41 AM »
Hi,

I've got a separate centos box running BackupPC to backup our internal machines, as well as user data from our SME server.

I would now like to add sme config data to the backups as well. What folders should I backup in order for me to "disaster recover" this server's functionality?

in any case you should include /etc, there are many configuration files in it. If there's more to backup, I don't know but would be also interested.

Do a search on backup as this has been asked and answered many times.

Take a look at Michael Weinberger's 'Affa': http://wiki.contribs.org/Affa

It is easy to install, simple to setup (especially if you managed to get BackupPC working...) and can be used to automatically backup your SME server onto a remote nfs share over the network -- or to the local /var/affa, which you could then backup with BackupPC...
