I can't get SME to RAID5 with three disk upon install.
« on: February 18, 2007, 06:56:16 PM »
Configuration:

400 MHz Celeron
384M RAM
Adaptec controller
Three 72G hard drives.

Work environment:
Newspaper Production

Goal:

Increase hard drive space and performance by adding a 3rd hard drive. Did have two SCSI drives mirrored as RAID1 and wanted to have RAID5.

Steps:

I backed up the server with rsync the directories required to be copied back (Found this infomration in a different thread) because of the limitations of the included backup program. Ugly, not proud or happy , but I managed it in the first try.

Problem:

SME fresh install and formated the drives. Resulting install never creates RAID5 with all three drives. Only RAID1 over all three drives (!?!).

Question:

Why won't SME installer set up RAID 5? All drives are same make, model and size.

If SME Server doesn't work out of the box then you may have a potential bug so best place would have been to report to bug tracker.
