Install stops before INIT

Install stops before INIT
« on: February 27, 2002, 03:38:29 AM »
Because my router doesn't have a CD-ROM, I installed SME 5.1.2 using my workstation, then moved the hard drive back to the router. However, when I boot, the install stops just before INIT should load. However, it runs fine on my workstation.

I've tried manually editing the install.cfg file before the install starts, but this has done little.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I should have been clearer:

I can install, configure and run the software on my workstation, but I cannot boot into the _configuration_ on the router

Does the router meet the requirements for RAM etcetera? You could always run an ftp server on your workstation and install on the router through ftp. For this you need to boot the router off the 'netboot' (or a like name) floppy. There should be an image for this floppy on the cdrom. Not sure if this will solve your problem, but you could give it a try.

I fixed my problem, but unfortunately it involves a compeditor's product :-(

In a few weeks time, I should have an AMD K6-2 400mhz to play with, and I look forward to giving e-smith a second chance...

Thanks for your help robert!
