So I`ve been playing around with Scalix for the last week and have pretty well got the install sussed out. What i`d like to do is run it as a separate mail system along side sme`s current mail system and have the current mail system hand it off to the sendmail process on a separate port (a little like it can do now by passing mail of to another mail server). My reason for doing this is to keep the spam filtering in tact and processing mail before it gets to Scalix.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for which files need to be modified?

Sorry I can't help, but I hope that someone can. I am trying to do the same thing. Just so far I haven't gotten Scalix to install on CentOS just yet... I need to revisit it as I am sure it is a simple fix, I just haven't looked at it for awhile.

Are you running Scalix on a seperate server? I am toying with the idea of installing VMWare on SME and creating a virtual server for Scalix so I don't need two servers.

Ive found that sendmail and qmail cant coexist - so it`s a no go. I set up scalix on a clarkeconnect vmware image for testing - it works well enough but I would rather it on a bare metal install.

The scalix guys reckon that they will have a complete vmware image up by the end of this month. Just do a search for vmware in the scalix forums.

Duncan,

Keep your SME running as your main mail server, spam/clam running according to your settings...

Set up Scalix to pull email from SME...  Will entail a bit of work for current users to set up, but every new user will be 30seconds on SME to set up account, 60 seconds or so total on Scalix to create user/retrieve mail....

Let us know if it works....
