Problems with new tape drive after upgrade
« on: April 22, 2007, 10:42:32 PM »
Hi

One of my cleints has a (very reliable) SME 5.6 server. It had a DDS4 drive in it but teh backups no longer fit so I have had to change teh tape drive for something bigger.

I have have source an LTO-2 dive (lovely!) and connected externally. The kernel detects the drive and correctly assigns the st0 device. Howver teh automated tape backups using flaxbackup do not work. I can manually run "flaxbackup -fs all" fro the command line and it just works, but when configured through the web gui it always fails. The error message is:

st0: Error with sense data: Current st09:00: sense key Illegal Request

Any ideas?

TIA Neil

PS Have go the client to agree to a new server in the next financial year so shoul de upgrading to SME 7 soon!

That's kind of the wierd thing - st0 is symlinked to nst0 (IIRC) and I can access the drive through it, it's just the scheduling doesn't work...
