When I installed SME 7.1 on my new Tyan Tranport GS10 machine it installed just fine but on reboot it chose the SMP kernel and I only have one processor. Anyhow it cause a kernel panic and so I tried some things in the bios to no avail and then I tried the UP kernel and that worked fine. This was an alright solution for a while but now I have various newer kernels that have been downloaded via yum but none of them work. What I mean by that is that when I boot a newer UP kernel it boots fine but I have no network connectivity. Also at times when i boot the newer kernel it asks me all of the reconfiguration questions like name for server, domain name, dhcp y/n, ip address. It would seem to me that the newer kernels are not reading the configuration info or something. Even ifI go through the config and answer all of the questions it still refuses to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
