IP blocking
« on: April 23, 2007, 01:18:25 PM »
Hi

I run several virtual sites from my SME server but recently i seem to be getting alot of spam on some of the sites forums.

Example : a new member called DrPillDrugOnline   account was registered
(to an unknown/invalid email account)

i have no idea how they managed to get access without a verification mail, but anyway they were creating allot of post/threads in one of my clients forums advertising viagra and other drugs.  How can i block them ?

How can i prevent these people doing this, its causing allot of problems with my clients.

Well you could ban the ip or the username on that site and install some image verification modules (this is not SME related so you should ask on the forum support website).

Another thing would be to ban the ip but these users often change ip's and use a proxy software so i think that the first option would be the best.
"It should just work" if it doesn't report it. Thanks!
