Changing Dedicated IPs
« on: March 07, 2002, 09:04:41 PM »
Hello,
I'm new to sme, but i'm really interested in migrating my existing linux server over.  I have 4 dedicated IPs.  So what i did was install sme on a box which was x.x.x.2 (with the production server being x.x.x.1).  My plan was to copying over everything needed from the production server and than switch the sme server's ip to x.x.x.1, making it the new production server and shutdown the old one.  But I ran into a problem switching the sme server's ip.  I tried editing the /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 and then doing a /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1.  Restarted the network and ifconfig showed t being x.x.x.1, but it still showed x.x.x.2 in httpd.conf and the outside world couldn't hit the sme machine (with web or ssh).  I'm thinking it might be the firewall or something but i'm not quite sure.  Is there a way that I can do a master change of the ip that will reflect correctly on all resources of the machine?
Please help

Thanks

Michael

Simply log in as admin and run the "configure this server" from the administration menu. It will ask for the IP address and do all the configuration automatically.
